This drawing is the product of my first time using soft pastels. It was done for an assignment during my senior year of high school in which we had to use a large format and choose a photo which would allow us to study how to draw a human figure. Vin Diesel's movie, xXx, had been originally released to theaters in 2002— my freshman year— and I knew that the poster for it had the perfect shot of Vin that would fulfill the requirements for the assignment. I saved his face for last because to be honest, I was terrified that I would be successful on everything and then ruin the entire effort by way of the face looking nothing like Vin, but thankfully, it turned out all right. The decision was made, however, to remove the gun in his hand due to this being a project that would be on display in a public school.
